[Boardgame] A Touch of Evil Boardgame

A continuation from 2nd Boardgame Day at Just Wargame.  Only this is about a different game.  A Touch of Evil boardgame by Flying Frog.

So I thought I should finish this up before start with my Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) 2012 post, which will be next.  Yes I know some of you guys are anxious to know what happened before, during and after the race right?

My friend, Blek, owns this boardgame.  He have bought the expansions "Something Wicked" and "The Coast" plus (+) 2 of the hero packs (Hero Pack 1 and Hero Pack 2).

Description of the game:

'Tis the dawn of the 19th century; an age of science, superstition, and witchcraft. Howling fills the night as a full moon rises over the small, secluded village of Shadowbrook. Gruesome murders have become a daily occurrence and terror haunts the streets at night. An evil creature has taken up residence here and the countryside is engulfed by a tide of darkness. But all is not lost…not yet.
A small group of heroic individuals, with the courage and strength to fight, have arrived in town. Some just passing through while others have come with a purpose; but all will be put to the test as they race to save this cursed town from falling into darkness. It will take a cunning mind and strength of spirit to determine who is friend and who is foe… to solve the mysteries and hunt the beast to its lair.
But the secrets of Shadowbrook run deep. Gossip and rumors run rampant and these few Heroes may soon discover that they are outsiders here and this town is already so rotten from within there is little left to save.

A Touch of Evil, The Supernatural Game
is a fast-paced game of fiendish creatures, dashing Heroes, and high-adventure. Each player takes on the role of a unique monster-hunting Hero, racing against time to stop the forces of darkness from claiming another foothold in the world of man. Only by investigating the town and building your Hero’s strength can you hope to hunt down the Supernatural Villain to his Lair and defeat him in an epic Showdown. Players can race Competitively to be the first to defeat the Villain and save the town, or they can work together Cooperatively to defeat a much stronger Villain.
Featuring a gameboard map of Shadowbrook and its surrounding countryside, eight Heroes to choose from, and four different Supernatural Villains to hunt; each with its own host of unique Minions and powers to drastically change the game. A Touch of Evil is designed to create an adventurous cinematic feel as the story and game unfolds.

So grab up your Wooden Stake, stuff some shot in that Musket, and hold onto your Tri-corn Hat; no one is safe from the creatures of the night and no one can be trusted…for inside everyone lies A Touch of Evil.
Here's him setting up the game, we cut our Mice and Mystic session short.

Definitely a longer map.  There's a short cut to and from town on each other maps.

Everyone decided to play as female character in this session.  And instead of picking random for the "Bos" monster/enemies.  We picked the Ghost Ship.  WHY?

The character I choose.  A witch.  I think I picked her because of her abilities.  She gets 2 investigation tokens at every start of the game.  But loses 1 token when the track goes up.  Pros and cons.

Total of 5 players for this session.  This game can max out to 8 players.

Finally finish setting up the map and cards.

Everyone starts at the Town Hall.

To determine who starts first, everyone rolls a d6.  The highest number starts first and moves on the next player clockwise.

All you gotta do is explore explore and loot loot.  Kill monsters along the way.  Not forgetting collect investigation tokens, which you only can grab on a successful roll of 5-6.

Oh did I mention, there's like 16 d6 dices in this game?

It gets messy.

Some of the location has its own event cards.  Notice there's a flip card next to it, that's the discard pile.  So yeah, definitely need a big table!

It came to this.  Wah so many investigation tokens.  Shiney eyes.  So greedy!

When you end your movement at the location that has investigation token, roll a number of dice equals to your Spirit or Cunning.

If you wanna reveal the enemy's location, pay number of investigation tokens according to the track.

Notice the red color in between those numbers? Those adds +2 to wounds or +1 to combat.  So the lower the number goes, it gets harder to deal damage to the monster/enemy.

My character including items, ally and other goodies.

Lets kill all those ghost pirates! RAWR!

I started the showdown!  Everyone pays investigation tokens to teleport to the location.

The group can choose to bring along two (2) of the town elder for the showdown.  Widow Jessica is on our side while the other town elder, I forgot which is a traitor, help ghost ship orz.

Hero that died.

Ghost ship.  65 wounds with the help of town elder becomes. 25/64 omg!  So hard!  Fuuuu!  I'm running out of investigation tokens!  In the end, we stop the game cause it reached dinner time and it was so cold.  It rained that night.

Blek need to get some sleeves for these omg!

Blek arranging the game components according to the box.  We did not rush him but it took him 20-30 mins? In the end, he mixed it all up! ROFL!

Must protect boardgames from rain!

Special raincoat for Blek from Vincent with love XD

Can't wait for the next session :)

FORTUNE AND GLORY! I haven't get my hands on you yet :(
