Formula Dé Mini Boardgame

I'm seriously been neglecting my blog a lot lately. Maybe coz it's almost the end of the year and maybe coz I'm still exhausted from editing the photos from HobbyCon 2008. I don't really know. I'm just overall tired. I think.

I know I know, I'm giving lotsa excuse from not blogging. Maybe I wanna go on a holiday or something to make myself feel relax from all those political stuff/war that's going on around. No, I'm not referring to the world. I'm referring to people overall. There was once a time when I hated the world I live it. Just when I'm starting to like it, it gives me the impression that the world won't change for the greater gewd. And no, I have no idea what I'm babbling about if you ask me XD

Anyways, stop with the whining, I shall introduce you guys to a new boardgame I played last Wednesday at CarcaSean, Citymall. Well before that I actually went to have dinner with toyboy at Poppea Garden. Thank yew toyboy for dinner. After being all stuffed from eating, me, my bro, acing and his bro went to this cyber cafe to play Left 4 Dead (L4D). It's my first time playing this game. Left 4 Dead is a co-operative, survival horror, first-person shooter game. Kill zombies! Not for the weak hearted. Also, if you can't handle blair witch, forget it XD You'll get headache. I had problem with the controls. Need some time to get use to XD More info about this game, click here.

After the game, we went to CarcaSean and played Formula Dé Mini Boardgame. Hey, I was skeptical at first. And the truth is that I'm not the only one who's skeptical with this game. Well we thought this is like some kinda simple race game. I was indeed dead wrong. THIS IS UBER FUN!

Lemme briefly explain how this game works. I hope I got the steps correctly.

Min. no. of players is 2 and max is 8. First you choose the color of your car. There's a selection of red, green, yellow and blue. Then you choose the color of your spoiler. I use a red and blue car hehehe.

Each player are given 20 life tokens. This is to determine the condition of your car.

Here's the race track.

This is the gear indicator.

Notice the color die and the icon under the numbers? That's the no. of steps. You can shift gear during your turn. Increase or decrease by 1. If you wanted to shift from gear 4 to 2, you need to pay 1 life token.

Notice the colored square on the track, that's the pit stop. To get your life token, you need to roll a d20. The no. you got from that, is the life token you're getting. I think you shouldn't roll a 20. LOL I forgot why though.

Anyways, to start the game, players need to roll a d20 to determine the position. The lowest no. goes first.

On each round, the 1st car gets to go first. I mean if you started the race first, in the next round if you're car is positioned no. 3, you don't get to go first.

Notice the corner outlined in red? When you reach a corner, you need to stop in that outlined section. If you exceeded, you need to pay life tokens according to the no. of boxes you exceeded.

Collision will happen in this race. Lets say if your car stop behind a car, you could pay 3 life tokens to get in front of that particular car. I forgot whether you need to roll the black d20 die to prevent the collision in this case. But if you're car is next to another car, you need to. Rolls of no. less than 3 have to pay 1 life token.

Oh you can switch lanes. But you can't do it zig-zag form.

So yeah, to win the race, you need to finish 3 laps. Pretty much it. I mean there's other rules to follow but I couldn't remember em. Sorry.

Eventhough I started 1st in the race, I finish last. Darn it!

Last but not least, thanks to everyone who're still reading my blog. I'm sorry that I haven't been visiting everyone's blog lately. I'm just uber tired and I need a vacation. *cries.
