Had dinner at citymall coz blackout at my house around 6pm-ish. *facepalm.
Boardgame session started around 8pm. Where? CarcaSean of coz. Remember I blog about this boardgame called Pandemic last August (if you don't, click here)? Well, this time, I get to play. Max is 4 player. And the lucky 4 player is me, Panja, Jack and KC.
What is this game?
According to Z-man games webpage, etto~ I'll just cut and paste it ;)
Players must work together, playing to their characters' strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks. For example, the Operation Specialist can build research stations, which are needed to find cures for the diseases. The Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5.
But the diseases are outbreaking fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while also towards cures.
A truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.

Simply say, SAVE THE WORLD FROM THE DISEASES!
Here's some of the photos I took of the boardgame.
Role cards. Since it's a 4 player game, only 4 of this roles are put in play. Pick at random and discard 1 card.
This is for player's reference only. Basic Actions card. On each round, a player has 4 action points (AP). The pawns are to to represent the roles on the board. 1 movement takes 1 AP, same goes as an action.
The player can move to the city next to where he/she's at or
Move to a city with a research center or
Discard a city card to move your pawn to the city or
Discard a city card and move your pawn to anywhere on the board.
These of coz are explained on that basic actions card.
Special actions card.
City cards.
The pawns. We played normal mode? According to the rule book, we start at Atlanta (I think).
One does not want this card!
On each player's phase after the action phase, will have to draw 2 cards from the city card pile. And this epidemic card is in the city card pile. If this comes into play, the diseases will spread or will cause an outbreak. We do not want that. An outbreak happens when you have more than 3 disease block on a particular city and will spread to the adjacent city. If another city is infected and has more than 3 disease block, it will spread again. Bad! Very bad.
When you've collected 5 of the same color city card, you discover a cure for the disease of that color. But to do this, you must be in a research station. This is very good!
Anyways, please take note that the game ends when the outbreak marker reach the end or when you run out of disease block.
*ack~ I didn't take photo of the infection marker, infection cards and the outbreak marker orz.
First (1st) round was fast, we couldn't save the world ;_;
Second (2nd) round was slow, we manage to get 3 cures but couldn't save the world ;_;
That's the end of the Pandemic boardgame session.
I hope the explanation is enuff, I dun think it is though, didn't take photo of some of the cards and items *sweats.

Meanwhile, the other group is playing "Fury of Dracula". No idea how this game works yet. But I'll post it up once I get my hands on it ;)
Ogie, now need to get ready for Koby's open house ;)
Hi, I'm the guy who often shows up at CarcaSean with his wife. I think I stole the Pandemic game from your group once. Sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think it would be nice if we could play together sometimes. Most of the time, I play with my wife with Sean and a small group of Chinese guys but I rarely see the two groups mixing.
We can be counted on to show up every Saturday evening and sometimes during a weekday, so if you need an extra two players for a game, hey, please keep us under consideration. We're pretty much okay for anything, though it would be good to have some forewarning of what we're going to play. Thanks!
@wankongyew: ahhahaha, oh, the other day, yes I remember, we were playing Ghost Stories that time. One of our fren weren't satisfied with the Pandemic outcome LOL. So that's one of the reason why we keep on playing it. Hey we don't mind ppl joining us, the more the merrier XD We usually play on Friday nites, we usually keep our thread updated at the forum ;) We might wanna try the zombie game that's posted at the CarcaSean facebook page ;)
