[Activities] An adventure to the Taralamas River Canyon, Kg. Tiang Lama, Ranau.

Wow, what a year.  I can't remember the last time, oh wait I did went for hiking months back to Tamaza Waterfall (sorry blog post tergendala) but I haven't been doing it as often that I would have liked.  This time, went on a trip with my group from handstand class with a runner friend to Taralamas River Canyon in Ranau.

We opt for overnight at the homestay which cost us RM30 per person, coz we needed the electricity to charge our phones (there's camping 🏕 option: Bring your own tent at RM10 per pax and RM20 per pax for option at the sulap), and coz it's way more convenient than waking up early and driving at 3am to get to our somewhat unknown destination that might take us 3 hours to reach.

Russell ‘Taylors’ to Sabahans’ needs by bringing its products to S-Mart Sabah

Russell Taylors, a brand specialising in kitchen appliances for the home, now delivers its line of products to Sabahans directly from the state itself via a collaboration with Malaysia’s no. 1 e-commerce platform Shopee. This expansion is on the back of market research executed by the brand, where resulting insights have shown a strong demand for Russell Taylors goods from Sabah.

With the country still battling the spread of Covid-19, the digitalization of businesses becomes essential as more Malaysians shop online for necessities including home appliances. This is apparent in the sales performance achieved by Russell Taylors on Shopee during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Sabah student's display of exemplary determination attracts Shopee

E-commerce platform hands over Care Package to Veveonah and launches Shopee Sapot Lokal Bah! campaign for Sabahans.

The story of Veveonah Mosibin who had to spend a night up a tree to get better internet access in order to do her exams online, has caught the attention of Shopee.  The e-commerce platform sent a team over to Kg Sapatalang, Pitas, to visit the 18 year old student and presented her with a Shopee Care Package.

After hearing her plight, Shopee got in touch with Veveonah to better understand her needs.  The e-commerce platform then put together a kit comprising a laptop, smartphone, backpack, wireless Bluetooth speaker, headphones, powerbank and smartwatch to aid her in her education.  Shopee Mall retailer, N4 Camera Store who learned about Veveonah's interest in Youtube video-making also extended a sponsorship of a tripod and ring light to support her hobby.

The Sabah International Convention Centre launches food delivery 🚚

Embracing the ‘new normal’, the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) introduces its current food promotions to the residents of Kota Kinabalu with the option to self-pick-up or home delivery.  Mind you, when they announce this, I got a little excited.

The a la carte menu Dishes of Borneo and festive set menus; Santapan Hari Raya and Flavours of Kaamatan focus on authentic local cuisines with strong emphasis on home-grown and fresh produce.

While there are no open-house visits this year, SICC can help customer delivery the festive celebrations to their guests, offering a vibrant selection of signature heritage delicacies which brings back nostalgia from their hometown.

The festive set menus on offer are priced based on two persons packaged in generous serving proportions (very generous indeed, I was eating this packed meal with my family and I was stuffed) 😋 :

Had the opportunity to try these delicious meals which I'll posted on my Instagram and Facebook page.  You could read my review, here.  I love how they use biodegradable packaging and paper bag for this delivery.  There is still the usage of sealed bags, but these are minimal.

Biodegradable packaging

I also love that they took the time to label the foods.

On the Santapan Hari Raya festive menu available until 24 June’20, there are three set-menus to choose from; Set Adil Fitr at RM88.00nett, Set Syawal at RM118.00nett and Set Muhibbah Raya where favourite Raya dishes are featured in each set with additional 17 dishes to customise own selections.

Closely following Raya celebration is the Harvest Festival, while homebound, it is still an event not to be missed.  The culinary team have created two special set menus for Flavours of Kaamatan; Set Magahau at RM88.00nett and Set Monupad at RM118.00nett incorporating traditional cuisines.  Flavours of Kaamatan ends 1 June’20

Customers are welcome to mix it up a little by adding items to their set menu order from the a la carte menu; Dishes of Borneo offers signature dishes popular with the local diners as well as a range of daily baked cakes, breads, buns and rolls.

These are impressive and flavorful.

Best described as authentic, wholesome, made fresh from local produce, the menus are crafted by our director of culinary Mohd Firdaous Bin Mohd Izhar and the culinary experts from SICC’s banquet kitchen.

Also had desserts, some have tried and some was my first time.

If these doesn't make your mouth water, I don't know what will.

Available daily from 11.00am with the last order being 7.00pm, the guest services team are at hand in helping customers with their order or to assist in arranging gift of a prepared festive meal to their clients or business associates.  Online food order can be made via www.siccsabah.com/foodbar or call through dedicated mobile number +60 12 836 0717.

Don't wait too long.

Shop Safely From Home with S-Mart Sabah

The Movement Control Order (MCO) has put a restriction on Malaysians in order to curb the spreading of COVID-19. Sabahans are finding it harder to shop for essential items during this period, given the limited access.

Shopee is extending its support to Sabahans via S-Mart Sabah, a Sabah-dedicated online store on the platform, providing them with greater convenience so they can shop for their daily needs from home. The e-commerce platform is working closely with brands like Nestle, Oral-B, Harpic, Follow Me and Genki to manage supplies and bring in more products like instant noodles, milk, cereal, toothpaste, shampoo and diapers so shoppers will have access to them throughout this period.

[Activities] Paddle with the Legend: Sunrise Kayaking at Kg. Serusup, Tuaran.

With the current covid-19 situation, traveling abroad is best avoided.  Life aren't necessarily be boring for all of us (in reality my life is pretty hectic with running plans and food tasting, occasionally will take a day or 2 off just to rest).  There's so many beautiful places that you can go on an adventure locally at a reasonable price.  In reality, I don't think anyone will be able to finish it unless they travel full time.

The view of Mt. Kinabalu 😍

[Food] Roadtrip to Keningau: Keningau Food.

It has been a struggle trying to blog.  One reason being exhausted on a daily basis, another would be that I needed fast internet connection and blogging from home is not an option due to this issue and doing it from work, well, I don't really have all the time in the world thrown on my lap.

On another note, am finally catching up on writing (being motivated and all), so hopefully all those pending posts will come out this year (given that, am still motivated).

So last Christmas (okay a day before Christmas, 24th Dec to be exact), me and my group decided to go on a food roadtrip to Keningau.  This was our first trip together as a group and coz we clicked (we spent a huge amount of time together food tasting for a year or so already).  We didn't really have a  clear plan but we compiled a list of some worthy places to visit based on my personal trip (to Keningau), Keningau people's recommendations and Google Map.

First trip with my cabinzero Adv Dry 11L (thank you cabinzero for Cyber Monday).  You could follow cabinzero via Instagram for latest update and sales, who knows you could win one too!  Or if you can't wait that long, use my code for 10% off, here.

Left at 7:30am and got to Papar for breakfast in an hour.  Carpool! And we had a system to how we were gonna split the bill.
