Our first boardgame session, the free surprise gift was Citadels.  This time, surprise gift is dices!  Mind you, only one of it, not both.

This game belongs to Daniel.  He pre-ordered it for a long time, recently released and finally reached.  Still new, need sleeves for this.  I was excited to finally get to play this cause since the time Dan told me about it and I watch the intro trailer.  Looks fun.

No. of player: 1 - 4 player.  We were short 1 player so Dan played 2 of the characters.

Rulebook and storybook.

How to Play:

Now, you might wonder what this game is about right.  So here's the cut and paste description from the publisher.
In Mice and Mystics players take on the roles of those still loyal to the king – but to escape the clutches of Vanestra, they have been turned into mice! Play as cunning field mice who must race through a castle now twenty times larger than before. The castle would be a dangerous place with Vanestra's minions in control, but now countless other terrors also await heroes who are but the size of figs. Play as nimble Prince Colin and fence your way past your foes, or try Nez Bellows, the burly smith. Confound your foes as the wizened old mouse Maginos, or protect your companions as Tilda, the castle's former healer. Every player will have a vital role in the quest to warn the king, and it will take careful planning to find Vanestra's weakness and defeat her.
Mice and Mystics is a cooperative adventure game in which the players work together to save an imperiled kingdom. They will face countless adversaries such as rats, cockroaches, and spiders, and of course the greatest of all horrors: the castle's housecat, Brodie. Mice and Mystics is a boldly innovative game that thrusts players into an ever-changing, interactive environment, and features a rich storyline that the players help create as they play the game. The Cheese System allows players to hoard the crumbs of precious cheese they find on their journey, and use it to bolster their mice with grandiose new abilities and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
Mice and Mystics will provide any group of friends with an unforgettable adventure they will be talking about for years to come – assuming they can all squeak by...

The 6 (six) mouse to choose from: -

  1. Collin (Leader/Warrior),
  2. Filch (Scamp),
  3. Lily (Archer),
  4. Maginos (Mystic),
  5. Nez (Tinkerer/Warrior)
  6. Tilda (Healer)

Our first test round in play.  Dan as both Collin and Filch.  I choose to play as Maginos while Nick play as Nez.  At the back of each character card is the story of the character.  In this case, I'm a dragon slayer :)

Minions (enemies) that you will encounter in the game.  Roaches, rats, centipede and spider.

Dices.  These are so cute OMG!

Mouse ability cards, search cards, encounter cards and initiative cards.

Starting off.

Story control board.

We start off at the Guard Room.

Movement is depending on the dice roll + character movement speed which is indicated on the character card.  Eliminated guards (rats).  Characters have skills to add bonus for attacking and defending.  Some characters use range attack and some use melee.  Or choose to use either one.

Once minions are cleared, one of the player could use an action to explore the next tile.  But before that, once per location (correct ka this?) you could explore the room.  Get items or if you did not want that, you could choose to get cheese.  Helps you level up.

Flip tile, moving on to the Sewer.

Get out of the water, or you'll get push further down.  We manage to get to the Tunnel Entrance before we switch to playing A Touch of Evil boardgame.

Manage to search for this loot.

Save game.

Hope next time we could finish this game.  I was getting excited but it's okay.  Till next time.
