[Food] New Creative Culinary Experience at Favola, Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu Introduces New Ala Carte Menu

Had the opportunity to try Favola at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu's new ala carte menu curated by local talent, Executive Sous Chef Gary Ekar and his team last week before my trip.
"Being a chef, perfection means to master our crafts".


"This menu was crafted through my experience in France; while attending the one star Michelin level Ecole Gastronomicom in Le Cap d'Agde and when I did my apprentice in a 2 Michelin star Restaurant Alexandre in Nimes" explained Chef Gary.



"I was also inspired to combine the elements of sensory taste, sight, sound, touch and smell using fresh produce and ingredients from the destination and to create great masterpieces.  Guests will also enjoy a unique and engaging service experience complemented by our passionate team", he added.




Favola is an upscale Italian restaurant located at the lobby of Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu.  The 37 new dishes feature an array of appetizers, soups, mains and desserts and is available from 28 November 2019 onwards from 6:30pm to 10pm daily.


Start your unique dining experience with the signature dishes including:- 

Capesante - hand-dived scallop, basil pesto, tomato, white wine balsamic mayonnaise, garden and leaves, 

Zuppa Di Zucca - organic local pumpkin, toasted nuts, Modena balsamic reduction, Parmiggiano Reggiano espuma, 


Gnocchi All'Aurora - potato dumpling 'fatto a mano', tomato cream, rucola and Sabah fresh lobster, 

Wagyu Costata - Porcini crusted sous vide rib eye, potato and pumpkin puree, roasted seasonal vegetables, truffle jus, 

Carre DÁgnello - slow cooked herb crusted lamb loin, tomato marmalade, baby carrot, red wine and onion jus, 

Merluzzo - pan seared black cod fish, grilled seasonal vegetables, lemon confit, salsa verde 

and  

Torta Al Orea E Caffe - oreo crumbed coffee mousse and chocolate ganache.

Brado All'Anconetana - Seasonal local seafood in basil and tomato broth
Branzino - Seabass 'Acqua Pazza'in white wine and cherry tomato broth, capers, black olive, local seafood

Trote - Pan-seared trout, Modena balsamic vinegar pickled red cabbage, basil braised Lentil du Puy
The three course set menu will also feature a new main course options: 

Favola Lasagne - Flat pasta 'fatta a mano'in minced beef tomato ragu
 Spaghetti Alla Mazzara - squid ink spaghetti, saffron cream, local seafood with basil; 

or 


Black Angus Filetto - char boiled herb butter baste Black Angus tenderloin, potato and pumpkin puree, roasted seasonal vegetables and Sarawak Pepper Jus; 

or 


Pollo Alla Cacciatore - slow cooked chicken breast in tomato broth, parsley soft polenta, roasted seasonal vegetables and thyme jus.  







Favola Tiramisu - Mascarpone cheese, ladyfingers, espresso

The set menu also comes with a choice of Capesante or Zuppa and Torta Al Burro E Arachidi - salted peanut butter crunch.  Fourless chocolate fudge, Manjari choc mousse and strawberry jam.  It is available daily at RM160nett per person and optional wine flight at RM50nett per person.
